DALLAS SAFARI CLUB SHOW
With the Hunt For a Dream children’s hunt happening this weekend, I was limited to only being able to attend the annual Dallas Safari Club convention for one day, but I was thrilled I was able to see so much and meet so many great people while I was there.
The highlight of my day was shaking hands and chatting with fellow Havalon man Jim Shockey. Admittedly, Jim is quite intimidating but is very personable. We exchanged stories about the knives, hunting in Alaska and talked about my recent muzzleloader hunt in Ohio.
I also had the pleasure of meeting up with Jeremy Denson and Tyler Jennings of Brute Outdoors. Two great guys behind the absolute best American-made 5-day cooler in the land. Seriously, the team recently filled the coolers up with ice during Desiree’s Sierra Diablo hunt and we were able to use the same ice two weeks later on our hunt in the Texas panhandle.
I capped off the day celebrating with our friends from Sitka Gear at their big annual after-party with great food, drinks and conversation around the fire. For those who have never been, this is certainly a can’t-miss little shindig. I was excited to see some of the wonderful 2014 gear the boys from Bozeman, Montana were working on and can’t wait to put the new waterfowl camo to the test next year. The upcoming redesigned Cloudburst jacket features new pockets and zippers, and is sure to be a big hit. It was a great way to end the day after meeting so many like-minded outdoorsmen and women who live the “Tight Lines and Big Tines!” lifestyle. Thank you so much to all of you who said, “hello.” Post your photos of us and tag me on Instagram and Facebook and there might be a free shirt in it for you! It truly made my day to meet with so many of you and I can’t wait to be back next year.
